At Deveres we've always taken the cut of our
diamonds seriously. Many of our clients have told us they feel like they've
just taken a course in grading after visiting with us for a short time. While
many in the jewelry business shy away from the issue of cut, we welcome your
questions. We want the diamond we sell to you to be our advertising. We want
you to be happy with the way the stone sparkles and reflects light. We want
your friends to be in awe and give you a thousand compliments. We've bet our
business on this. If we were to sell inferior cut diamonds, our clients
wouldn't be happy and thus would never pass our name along to their family and
friends.
Cut plays a pivotal role in the way a diamond
reacts to light. Well cut diamonds will appear brilliant throughout as light is
transferred into the stone through the crown and divides into white and colored
light. The light is then channeled down to the pavilion, which is essentially a
mirror, and reflected back to you through the table. At Deveres we promise
well-cut diamonds Period.
Unlike most high-ticket items two diamonds are
never the same. It is not like going down to your local car dealer and buying
the same car your friend has. Diamonds, unlike cars, can vary greatly. Simply
put, if you want the diamond you buy to have maximum brilliance and dispersion
proper cut is a must. To accurately grade a diamond for cut the stone must be
certified from an independent lab. As always, a reputable jeweler should have
no problem backing up his diamond with documentation.
