In general, diamonds are valued and graded based
upon four qualities: Carat, Color, Clarity, and Cut. When looking to purchase a
diamond, look for stones that have the highest grades in each of the four
categories. Because a large stone high in carat weight may be poor in color,
clarity or may be poorly cut, the object is to pick a diamond with the best
possible combination of each of the qualities.
